Newspaper is a very absorbent product, because it has to absorb ink.
That also means it can absorb all sorts of moisture, including moisture and the
resulting odors found in shoes, in vegetable drawers, and elsewhere.

1. Stuff a balled-up piece of newspaper into a lunch box or thermos, seal it
and let it sit overnight to deodorize food containers.
2. Ripen tomatoes by wrapping them up in newspaper individually and leave
them out at room temperature.
3. When packing delicate items like picture frames and figurines, use several
pieces of newspaper to protect them. Crumple additional newspaper to fill
in any extra space in the box.
4. Wipe away streaks on glass by using newspaper with window cleaner to
clean windows and mirrors.
5. If you’re out of cat litter, in a pinch shred some newspaper and use it till
you can get to the store.
6. Place crumpled newspaper in wet shoes or boots and dry them overnight.
7. The comic section is great to use as wrapping paper for a child’s birthday
gift.
8. Keep a pile of newspaper near the entryway during the winter to absorb
the snow and ice from boots when the kids come in from playing outside.
9. Use newspaper to get up the small shards of glass that remain after you
remove the large pieces. Blot the area with wet newspapers. The tiny pieces
will stick to the paper and make clean up easy.
